Hey Lyfteenites,
I’ve been feeling this urge to have a real chat with you all today about something super important: self-worth. I get it—sometimes it feels like the world is telling you you're not enough, especially when you’re worried about how many likes you get on Instagram or whether you’re fitting in at school. It’s easy to start thinking you don’t measure up. But here’s the truth: you are more than enough just as you are. You don’t need anyone’s approval to know you’re valuable.
I know you might be thinking, “Easier said than done,” especially when everyone seems to be chasing after perfection. Trust me, I’ve been there. I remember a time when I was told I was too slow or that I looked too fragile to get anything done. Those voices sometimes creep in, but I always held on to those Bible verses that remind me of my worth.
Psalm 139:14 says you are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” God made you with so much love and purpose. If that doesn’t lift your spirits, I don’t know what will!
So, how do we live like we really believe that? Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re feeling down:
Firstly, surround yourself with people who lift you up. Some friends can light up a room, while others might drain your energy. If your friends make you feel less than amazing, maybe it’s time to find new ones. True friends celebrate your wins and remind you of your worth, even when you’re feeling off.
Secondly, avoid the comparison trap. Social media can make it so tempting to compare yourself to others, especially when everyone seems to be posting their best moments. Remember, what you see online is just the highlight reel. Everyone has their struggles, they just don’t always share them. Focus on your own journey and celebrate your own little victories.
Thirdly, don’t forget to find your confidence in God’s Word. The world’s opinions can change, but God’s view of you stays the same. Spoiler alert: He thinks you’re amazing. When doubts creep in, lean on verses like Isaiah 43:4, which says, “You are precious in my eyes and honoured, and I love you.” You don’t have to earn God’s love; it’s already yours.
At the end of the day, your worth is something only God can define, and it’s unshakeable. So, when you start doubting yourself, remember who created you and what He says about you.
I’d love to hear from you! What helps you build your self-worth? Have you struggled with this, or do you have tips to share? Let’s talk about it in the comments; I’m all ears!
